PART 3 : ACCESSING STANDALONE ESXI SERVER IN HOME LAB USING VSPHERE CLIENT

ESXi server is installed and configured its time to login into GUI client. I am going to use classic vSphere client to log in into ESXi (vSphere is vmware software suite includes vCenter, Esxi and other components), This is fat Desktop installable client. This link will help you to download ESXi compatible vsphere client (Same client can be found on vCenter DVD ISO). Once you download compatible vsphere client from vmware website install it with all the defaults, few next clicks like any other normal software, and you will see client icon on your desktop. Just for information VMware has announced that they are deprecating this vsphere desktop client in forthcoming vsphere versions (reference link). I will be showing HTML5 version web client in next blog.

Here use the IP address, username and password to login, you will be prompted to ESXi login security warning about certificate, as this is self singed certificate you can safely ignore this and press ignore, If you don't want to see this certificate warning in future you can simply click on install this certificate and do no display any security warning for "IP", It will keep the certificate in your desktops certificate trusted store.

Here I logged into esxi with 60 days of evaluation period which is enough for any lab POC. If I require I can install esxi on VMWare workstation again and again, Testing all the settings, modify whatever I want. This is the beauty of VMware Workstation.

Next setting I want to show is network setting, I have 2 network adapters and I attached only one network card. go to Configuration Tab on the right, select Networking in hardware pane and then check the graphical and DCUI representation in ESXi.
